Rotary Fellowship Beyond Borders
A group of members from the Paphos Aphrodite Rotary Club had the great pleasure of joining the Rotary Club Bochum-Rechen in Germany for their inspiring Charter Celebration Weekend this June. What a fantastic few days of international fellowship, cultural exploration, and friendship!
We arrived in Bochum on 12 June and were warmly welcomed at the Welcome Parkhotel Hotel our base for the weekend.
That evening, we kicked things off with a tour of the iconic FIEGE Brewery where we sampled local beer and tucked into the region’s beloved Currywurst a fun and flavorful start to the celebrations!
Friday brought us a cultural deep dive into the Ruhr area:
- A guided visit to the magnificent Villa Hügel in Essen, home to the legendary Krupp family
- Lunch at Mezzo Mezzo followed by an awe-inspiring tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zeche Zollverein
Saturday was the highlight as we joined Bochum-Rechen’s anniversary celebration at the charming Franz Ferdinand Restaurant in the Bochum Zoo. A beautiful setting, heartfelt moments, and uplifting Rotary spirit made the day truly unforgettable.
It was a privilege to be part of this memorable occasion, and we thank our friends at Rotary Bochum-Rechen for the warm hospitality, excellent organization, and the joy of shared purpose.
