Mostly it is a sociable fellowship event which takes place once a year and it rotates each year to be hosted in a different country.
Every Club donates EUR 250 for a local community project of the host Club.

The program consists of the following activities:

  • The programme begins officially on Friday night with a reception in the hotel and then all guests are brought to the host clubs members’ homes for dinner.
  • On Saturday the host club arranges sightseeing etc.
  • Saturday night is an official Gala Dinner.
  • Sunday morning every club presents a song, there is brunch and the goodbye.

Many guests spend a few days before or after the event in the area around
the host club.
The attendance is usually around 150-200 guests.

The event is good fun and very tiring as there are late nights and early starts.

It is a weekend fellowship at its best!

The 2014 meeting was held in Jonkoping in Swedens lovely lake district. Five members and spouses attended the very successful meeting which included a conducted tour of the SAAB aircraft factory. The nine members of the Euromeeting Group contribute to a fund which the host club used to provide a trailer for a local charity dealing with drug rehabilitation.

Paphos-Aphrodite RC hosted the Euromeeting in October 2010 in our home town Paphos and again in 2017 when Paphos was the European Cultural Capital. The 2018 Euromeeting hosts will be Bochum, Germany.  A link to their Euromeeting Web Page is here http://euromeeting-bochum.de

                                                         OTHER TWINNED CLUBS

Paphos-Aphrodite is also twinned with two Rotary Clubs in Greece - Corfu and Xanthi

                                                  EUROMEETING 2017 REPORT

From 12 to 14 October the Club hosted a very successful "Euromeeting" of seven of the eight Clubs in the Euromeeting Group (see "Twinned Clubs" in the Main Menu pages).  We attracted 47 visiting Rotarians and their spouses, and laid on trips to the Paphos archaeological sites; Aphrodite's Rock, Kolossi and Kourion; and Omodos village with a winery visit. More importantly, guests were hosted in Club Members' homes on October 13th in the best traditions of Rotary international friendship.  Finally, all attended a Gala Dinner on October 14th, including a number of Greek Gods and Goddesses (your scribe wanted to come as Pluto from the Underworld, but was turned down !).

On a more serious note, each visiting Club donated 500 Euros to the Cyprus Rotary Mega Project (see Main Menu page).  Our Club added money raised at this year's Gala Dinner, giving a total raised of 4000 Euros. Iacovos Constantinides from Karaskaikion gave a speech at the meeting.

Our Swedish visitors in full voice.  Abba are reportedly worried about these new competitors...

A stirring rendition of the classic nonsense poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat' by our English visitors.
